Like I said last month, activism has taken a lot out of me and I didn't blog my relatively few interesting summer looks in a timely fashion. Even in that October post, I only managed two. So here's the best of the rest from my slow-fashion summer of 2019.
On June 12, I was excited to celebrate our friend Lisa Grunwald's latest book,
Time After Time. In honor of the time-traveling romance novel, I wore a homegrown-vintage dress with a lot of emotional importance: This is the one my designing friend Stacy Lomman custom-made for me in 2012, when I won
Fashion Group International's Rising Star award for fine-jewelry design.
What Wendy Wore
Dress: Stacy Lomman (2012, first seen here)
Shoes: Prada (2010, recently seen here)
Purse: Prada (2007, first seen here)
The evening of June 21, the first day of summer, was a chilly one, judging by this outfit. I wish I could remember where I was going in it. One thing I'm sure of is that this is the only photo I have of me wearing this late 1960s/early 1970s lace-up top from Quorum boutique -- where my fave vintage designer Ossie Clark sold his pieces --, even though I've owned the piece at least 13 years. I'm glad I finally captured it on camera!
What Wendy Wore
Tank top: Wolford (2013, previously seen here)
Lace-up top: "Double vintage" Quorum boutique label (acquired 2006 or before)
Jeans: Frame (Maybe from 2018?)
Shoes: Givenchy (2014, first seen here)
The next evening I tried to muster a smile at what I promise you is my last outdoor wedding. The location was beautiful, the weather was perfect, the bride was gorgeous, the groom was handsome -- and I had an allergy attack that was so horrendous that I was like, "If I ever do this again, I have only myself to blame." This is how I looked after having my face buried in a wad of Kleenex for hours, and it's better that you're seeing it from a distance. I wouldn't have even taken a picture, except
this is the dress that got me on "Inside Edition" and it deserves respect.
What Wendy Wore
Dress: Prada (the ubiquitous dress from 2011)
Shoes: Prada (2011)
Purse: Prada (2007)
Finally, here's a slow-fashion summer dress that I got to wear in November when MrB and I went to Florida for the Poynter Institute's Bowtie Ball. As MrB was about to take my outfit photo, he reminded me that I hadn't pinched any flowers for a couple of years.
What Wendy Wore
Dress: Prada (2012)
Shoes: Prada (possibly 2004, previously seen here)
Purse: Prada (2007)
There's a lot of homegrown-vintage Prada in this post! Shout-out to the brand for holding up so well over the years.
